Microsoft has assured Forza fans that Turn 10 Studios and Playground Games will “continue to support Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon 5,” despite cuts to the former last month.

“Dear Forza Community, we know many of you have questions about what’s next for the Forza franchise, and we appreciate the support of our incredible community,” reads an X post (published August 7) from the official Forza Motorsport account.

“We wanted to assure players that Turn 10 and Playground Games will continue to support Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon 5.”

In July, Microsoft confirmed it was making “major” layoffs across its gaming division, following multiple rumours and reports.

On July 2, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier reported that Call of Duty developer Raven Software had been hit by layoffs, while nearly 50% of Turn 10 Studios staff had reportedly been cut. However,

The following day, Turn 10 Studios content co-ordinator, Fred Russell, confirmed in a Facebook post that the team is “no more” and the studio had “shuttered the Forza Motorsport space.”

Russell went on to confirm that “[Forza] Horizon will continue… for now,” with the studio’s remaining staff expected to work on Forza Horizon 6, due out in 2026, alongside developer Playground Games.

In response to the post, Chris Harding, a former designer at Turn 10, claimed “120 people” had been cut from the Forza Motorsport team. However, the exact number of layoffs hasn’t been confirmed by Microsoft.

In addition to cuts at Turn 10 Studios and Raven Software, Microsoft has also shuttered The Initiative, and cancelled several Xbox projects, including The Initiative’s Perfect Dark reboot, Zenimax Online Studios’ MMO (codenamed Blackbird), and Rare’s Everwild.
