FX is reportedly adapting Ubisoft’s Far Cry franchise into an “anthology drama”.

As reported by Eurogamer, Ubisoft seemingly shared an announcement on its website which was subsequently taken down.

Those who had access to the page prior shared information on Reddit, alleging It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s Rob Mac and Fargo series creator Noah Hawley will co-create the adaptation.

Mac is said to star in the show, while Hawley is seemingly set to be showrunner.

Ubisoft’s announcement reportedly claimed the series would be an “anthology drama” and that “each season will be set in a new world with a different cast of characters following the video game franchise’s signature standalone storytelling format”.

It was also said that Mac and Hawley are executive producers on the series, alongside More Better Productions’ Jackie Cohn, 26Keys Productions’ Michael Garcia, and 3Arts Entertainment’s Nick Frenkel.

Ubisoft’s Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill are also said to be attached.

GamesIndustry.biz has reached out to Ubisoft for further clarification.

The supposed Far Cry adaptation will join the likes of other major franchises in the gaming world getting the television treatment, including HBO’s The Last Of Us and Amazon Prime’s Fallout adaptations.
